The Barratt’s new EP, Holding Up The Queue, consists of 6, infectious, engaging and often witty Indie Rock tracks that wear the bands origins proudly on its sleeve and is the first EP they have released on Vinyl.
Possibly, not since the likes of Jarvis Cocker, have tracks included so well observed one liners that make you smile at the humour but also cut to the core of a more deeply observed meaning, such as the pointed ‘Replica of a Working Town’ or ‘Vegans in Furs’ the latter within the track entitled ‘Spanish Influencer’.
The Barratts four members, James Faulkner, Kyle Homer, Brandon Essom and Evan Bridgstock have been a staple of the burgeoning Northampton music scene for some time but have also appeared with the likes of Alan McGee (Creation Records) and Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays) on previous Q&A tours, as well as regularly playing dates in London and the rest of the UK including on billings with the likes of Hotel Lux and Trampolene.
Holding up the Queue includes the bands last 3 singles, Garden Hopping, Black Spot and Rowan Tree Blues plus 3 other currently unreleased tracks (at time of writing), Spanish Influencer, Wrapped in Gold and Semi-Detached and is released on the Eight Limb Entertainment label.
