Originally released at the end of the '60s, Hot Buttered Soul set the precedent for how soul would evolve in the 70's - simultaneously establishing Isaac Hayes as a major music force. Although the tracks were lengthy, there was no sense of self-indulgence, each one evolving over sensual rhythms and taut arrangements. Hayes' vocal anticipated the 'rap' genre of Barry White and Millie Jackson without slipping into self-parody, lending an air of sophistication to a highly influential collection.
CD - Stax records presents the 40th anniversary edition of the classic album that transformed Isaac Hayes into a true music icon. It has been digitally remastered with 2 bonus tracks, expanded liner notes by Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and with new rare photographs.
LP - 180 Gram Vinyl with Download.
