You might not know the name, but Kamran Khan has been shaping London’s indie scene for the past decade. A key presence in live shows and recordings with The Japanese House, Let’s Eat Grandma, Flyte and, more recently, Murkage Dave, he’s long been admired for his fluid guitar work and close-knit musicianship.
He’s also caught plenty of ears with his solo project Fake Laugh, with Better for Me passing 20 million streams since going viral in 2018, alongside the rustic, string-laced sound of pencil, championed by BBC Radio 6.
I Came From Nowhere and Nowhere Is Where I Am Going takes on formative trauma around family, substance abuse, relationships and career setbacks, turning them into bright, melodic alt-rock songs with real heart.
