A veteran recording artist since 1933 with his own brand of rough 'n' ready hillbilly blues, Bill Carlisle reinvented himself in the 1950s as "Jumpin' Bill Carlisle" and signed to progressive Mercury Records who encouraged the new sound of hot country boogie being developed by Carlisle with his guitarist Chet Atkins
