Mick Goodrick's recording debut as leader was In Pas(s)ing, after spending some years with Gary Burton and before that, a spell with Woody Herman.
Goodrick, who has never been very tigerish about self-promotion, has primarily dedicated his life to teaching in Boston. Jazz Times has labeled him as "perhaps the most influential mentor in the history of jazz guitar." This 1978 production highlights Goodrick's creativity as a player in his own right, showcasing his talent and skill.
The album is inspired by the great team of players assembled for the session. The playful album title, by the way, references ECM's first office address, which was located in Pasing.
Personnel: Mick Goodrick: guitar; John Surman: soprano and baritone saxophones, bass clarinet; Eddie Gomez: double bass; Jack DeJohnette: drums
