Blackfield is the collaboration between Israeli songwriter and musician Aviv Geffen and British musician and producer Steven Wilson.
The collaboration, extending from their self-titled debut in 2004 to the recent album 'For The Music' in 2020, has proven to be a prolific partnership for creating striking and affecting music.
The pair makes for a formidable musical force; Geffen has worked with legendary producers Tony Visconti and Trevor Horn, has performed with U2, Placebo, and Biffy Clyro, and was a judge on the Israeli TV show 'The Voice'.
Wilson, as the leader of the hugely influential band Porcupine Tree, has also had a highly successful solo career, with Top 5 chart albums across Europe, and multiple Grammy nominations.
With guest appearances from Suede's Brett Anderson, Jonathon Donahue from Mercury Rev, and Anathema frontman Vincent Cavanagh, IV was described by Record Collector as 'a record that has an elegantly timeless and melodic grace to it' (****).
Terrorizer in the UK stated that IV is as rich sonically as it is musically, with countless moments of utter inspiration, this is creative liberation' and Prog described it as 'a melancholic and heartfelt collection that is occasionally stunning and often uplifting.'
