Title

Tamikrest first came together as a group in Kidal, a town that holds a special place in their hearts. Their fourth studio album, Kidal, pays homage to this nurturing place and its people. It's a cry of suffering and rebellion, a display of power and resistance. This is pure Tuareg rock'n'roll.

Ag Mossa describes Kidal as a reflection of dignity. The album captures the essence of the Malian desert surrounding Kidal, with its endless horizons of rock and sand. Kidal, at the southwestern edge of the Sahara, is a cultural center for the Tuareg people, symbolizing their defiance and hope.

Rhissa Ag Mohamed, a band associate, notes that Kidal evokes the suffering and manipulation faced by the Tuareg people. The songs on the album delve into a long history, blending tradition with electricity. As Ag Mossa points out, "It's very traditional if you go deeply into what I'm playing. Everything here is focused. Everything burns."

Kidal was recorded in Bamako, Mali in 2016 and produced by Mark Mulholland, with mixing by David Odlum. The album, which took two years to make, reflects the struggles of the Tuareg people. It mirrors their joys, pains, and their refusal to accept the status quo. This LP version comes as a 180 Gram Vinyl in a Gatefold Sleeve with Download.
