Released by Roadrunner Records in 2009, Killswitch Engage was Killswitch Engage’s fifth album and their second self-titled release, following their 2000 debut of the same name. It found the band sharpening their melodic metalcore with real confidence and force.
The lineup featured Mike D'Antonio on bass, Adam Dutkiewicz on lead guitar, Justin Foley on drums, Howard Jones on lead vocals and Joel Stroetzel on rhythm guitar. Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and Brendan O'Brien, it became their highest-charting album at the time.
Debuting and peaking at Number 7 on the Billboard 200, it also hit Number 1 on the US Hard Rock Albums chart. Singles included Reckoning, Starting Over, Take Me Away and Save Me.
