Boy George O'Dowd was, and is, a very soulful singer. His tone, his phrasing and delivery were all born out of classic soul of the '60s and '70s. The singer-songwriter Boy George is strongly inspired by the calypso rhythms and melodies that were a big part of early Motown hits, especially those written by Smokey Robinson.
