The 2016 debut is a beautiful fusion of the American soundscape, with elements of country, soul and folk all smoothed over. Like a warm embrace from an old friend, it just feels so natural. Whether it’s the George Harrison slide guitar, the conversational melodies, the choral brass or sweet sentiment of the lyrics, Light Upon The Lake scratches a lot of itches that we all have in us. They make no pretense to be anything more than a sunlit homage to American golden era but in doing so they have surpassed the very people they were trying to honour.
