LCD Soundsystem’s London Sessions captures the band at their leanest and most immediate, re-recording familiar songs live in the studio with minimal fuss. The set plays like a compact greatest-hits collection, but the sharper performances give tracks such as “All My Friends,” “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” and “I Can Change” renewed urgency. James Murphy sounds dry, restless and completely committed, while the band locks into every nervous rhythm and cowbell-heavy groove. It lacks the drama of a proper concert album, yet its crisp production and muscular playing make this an exhilarating snapshot of LCD Soundsystem in full flight.
