Magical Ring

Released in March 1983, Magical Ring is the seventh studio album by Clannad and a real turning point in their sound. It moves from traditional Celtic folk toward the atmospheric style that would soon carry them to a much wider audience.

Irish-language songs, traditional melodies and contemporary production come together beautifully here. The standout is Theme from Harry's Game, a haunting breakthrough hit that reached No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart and introduced Clannad to a broader listenership.

Elsewhere, Newgrange remains a fan favourite, while I See Red is a rare cover that also charted as a single. The album reached No. 26 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming Clannad's first major commercial success and setting up later landmarks like Legend and Macalla.
