Jimetta Rose returns with MettaSun, released via Day Dreamer, the artist’s dub label. This solo album draws inspiration from the interplanetary mythologies of Sun Ra, reshaping a selection of the cosmic jazz pioneer’s most iconic recordings through Jimetta’s singular perspective.
What comes through is a vivid, deeply personal statement: a powerful expression of the female imaginary and a hopeful, clear-eyed vision of Black joy. In the midst of the chaos of contemporary America, MettaSun feels expansive, searching and full of radical hope.
