Kim Carnes’ Mistaken Identity captures that unmistakable voice at its most direct and emotionally sharp. Rooted in pop, rock and new wave, it is an 80s record that still feels full of character, balancing huge hooks with a real sense of mood and movement.
At its centre is the global smash Bette Davis Eyes, joined by standout cuts including Hit and Run and Draw of the Cards. If you are into classic songwriting, strong melodies and records with a distinctive sound, this CD more than earns its place on the shelf.
