Moulded By Industry

William D. Drake returns with Moulded By Industry, his sixth solo album and first in ten years. Formerly of Cardiacs, The Sea Nymphs, Nervous and Lake Of Puppies, he brings back the richly layered sound and epic production that made Briny Hooves such a standout.

Here, Drake sets one poem by Thomas Ashe, five by John Clare, and two of his own to intricate, lush and deeply resonant music. It’s a natural fit for a songwriter whose work has long balanced Mellotron grandeur with a quietly surreal sense of play.

Joined by longtime collaborators James Larcombe, Dean Gaisburgh-Watkyn and Steve Jackson, plus singer Treana Morris, Drake continues to draw love, longing and loss from the English countryside, making old words feel vivid, intimate and very much alive.
