Mary has already gained some fantastic exposure in the broadsheets and specialist radio, playing sessions for 6 Music recently and has just opened for American cult artist Baby Dee on her UK tour. She has recorded with Eliza Carthy on Eliza's Rough Music and Mary has also worked with Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano on their last record.

Since becoming a solo performer, she has been invited to open for an eclectic mix of artists including St Etienne, British Sea Power, label mates Bellowhead and Jon Redfern. She played for the 1000th anniversary of Oxford, for the 75th anniversary of Cecil Sharp House (home of English Folk Dance and Song Society), and in the exquisite setting of End of the Road Festival.

Mary's first solo album is a distillation of her musical influences, which include Anne Briggs, Bob Dylan, Bach, traditional fiddle music, and British bird song. The subjects Mary covers are timeless and the language she uses is raw and poetic; the stories themselves are frequently charged with gothic drama and mystery.

The album contains 10 original songs, which focus in various ways on our uncomfortable relationship with the familiar.
