In the late 70s and early 80s the V.I.P's were at the forefront of the UK Power Pop / Mod Revival. They toured consistently with the likes of; The Specials, Squire, Secret Affair, The Beat, Madness And Dexys Midnight Runners. Despite Records Of The Week on Radio 1 and continuous airplay of their singles, their scheduled Top Of The Pops appreance, which was cancelled due to industrial action, meant that chart success eluded them.
