Nights Out with William Macbeth is the author’s account of a load of gigs he went to, and didn’t go to, between 10th June 2019 and 10th June 2020. It’s like ‘Nine Songs’ without the sex. It’s about music and the people that play it and listen to it. It’s also about relationships and pirates and owl shows.
The original plan was to write about a year of gigs, beginning with Cate Le Bon at Village Underground and ending with Weyes Blood at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, but then the pandemic struck, providing a much-needed narrative thrust, and Macbeth decided instead to write about whatever else was going on: grandfathers refusing to do what they were told, daughters pissing in paper cups, stockpiling duck food, etc. You know how it went. DIY paperback. 100 pages. Drawings included.
