Formed in Crystal Lake, Illinois in 1993, nymb began when transplanted teens James "Jamie" Zoeller and Elaine Bradley met in band class and set out to start a rock band. With Chad Price and Adam Kaczmarek, they played their first show in Jamie’s backyard in May 1994 and self-released two cassettes while still in high school.

By 1996, Ben Kane joined on drums, letting Elaine move to vocals and later guitar. With Cory Verblen, then Nathan Snydacker, on bass, the band became a key part of late-90s Chicago’s DIY, punk, and early emo scenes, sharing stages with Cursive, Jets to Brazil, and Hey Mercedes.

Nothing New is their rare final self-released album, now remastered by Carl Saff and back in print for the first time in decades, with expanded artwork by Wall of Youth. Rooted in the soft-loud pull of Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Braid, it’s a vital return from the vault.
