Jack Hammer's early recordings are reminiscent of the traditional rock n roll sound of Bill Haley. Hammer was also a sought-after songwriter who was involved in classics of the genre such as Great Balls Of Fire and Milkshake Mademoiselle. But Jack Hammer's career took adventurous paths. In the early 1960s, he moved to Europe, where he celebrated his biggest hits on the Ronnex label. He invented a new dance with The Wiggle, and hits such as Kissin Twist and Wigglin Fool guaranteed him international recognition. The CD contains all the hits as well as a number of rarities, from an unreleased track from 1959 to rare live tv recordings from German television in 1963. A series of fine soul recordings, made between 1965 and 66 in the USA and Great Britain, round off the overall picture.
