To celebrate the 15th anniversary of 2009's "Origin:Orphan," The Hidden Cameras are pleased to announce a remix album titled " Origin:Orphan Remixed ," featuring never-before-heard remixes of the critically acclaimed album.
The album's lead single, the organic and previously unreleased remix of Pet Shop Boys ' "Colour of a Man" , showcases the famous duo's brilliant trademark sound in a perfect interpretation of Gibbs' ballad. The Stuart Price remix was conceived when Jake Shears and Price were in Berlin planning the Scissor Sisters "Night Work" album and Jake was subletting Joel's apartment in 2008. The Noblesse Oblige remix of "Origin:Orphan" features Sebastian Lee Philipp (Die Wilde Jagd), who worked on the "Origin:Orphan" album, in a more upbeat version of the album's doomy title track and has also never been released. Barcelona duo Hidrogenesse offered to remix most of the album in 2009 and released an EP titled "Hidrogenesse versus The Hidden Cameras" on their Austrohungaro label shortly after the release of "Origin:Orphan". This material forms the main part of the remix album and fits seamlessly with the other remixes. Holy Fuck were approached to remix "Underage" for the B-side of the single and delivered a remix true to their electronic lo-fi aesthetic.
The entire album plays like an alternate version of “Origin:Orphan” and, with a running time of exactly 60 minutes, is a unique work of art in its own right.
