Polyfonia

stunning new record from the icelandic troupe 'polyfonia' includes nine songs, many of which have been brewing for awhile and have have been heard in the concerts of apparat organ quartet. some of these songs also act as tributes to the great minds that have influenced the life and sound of the band. for example, the german scientist and theorist alfred wegener, author of die entstehung der kontinente und ozeane, gets a nod, so does the godfather of the programmable computer, charles babbage. the presence of the ramones, motorhead, karlheinz stockhausen, buxtehude and the plfnkrinn, can also be felt in difference parts of the album. most of the singing is done through vocoders, with lyrics either in english, icelandic, german or japanese.
