In 1975, Phil Pratt had his first recording session with Keith Poppin at Channel One on Maxfield Avenue. This session produced a spare, hypnotic re-working of "Bad Mind Grudgeful", which was retitled "Envious".
The seven inch single, which caused a sensation here and in Britain, became a Number One record in Jamaica and was a big hit on the UK reggae market as well. Following the success of the single, the acclaimed album Envious was released.
Keith Poppin continued to collaborate with Phil Pratt on releases such as 'Who Are You', which was another big hit. Two years later, he recorded his second album for Phil Pratt called Pop Inn. This classic collection, created with a stellar lineup of musicians at Channel One, was released in the UK only on the Burning Sounds subsidiary label Burning Rockers.
This album further solidified Keith's reputation as one of Jamaica's foremost vocalists, known for his soulful and melodic voice.
