Dukes of Stratosphear released their second album, Psonic Psunspot, following their debut album 25 O'Clock. Formed by members of XTC, the band drew inspiration from 60's psychedelia for this project.
Psonic Psunspot was released in 1987 and features a variety of songs that pay homage to specific groups of that era. Tracks like "Vanishing Girl" evoke the sound of the Hollies, while "You're my Drug" channels the Byrds, and "Pale and Precious" captures the essence of the Beach Boys.
The members of XTC, able to explore a more playful and experimental side with Dukes of Stratosphear, deliver tunes on Psonic Psunspot that are considered superior to some of the songs on their official XTC albums during the same period.
