Norwegian Black Metal Legends have released their first new studio album after reformation. The band comprises members of Arcturus, Thorns, Mayhem, and 1349.

Mortem was formed before Arcturus. It brings together members of Arcturus, Mayhem, Thorns, and 1349 for a masterwork of eerie black metal.

Peaceville proudly presents the brand-new debut studio album of the newly reformed Norwegian legends. Looking back at the history of black metal, names like Mayhem, Burzum, and Darkthrone are familiar. But lurking in the shadows was Mortem, formed by Marius Vold & Steinar Sverd Johnsen in 1989.

The band was one of the first black metal bands in Norway, releasing the highly coveted and brutal "Slow Death" demo with Euronymous & Dead of Mayhem as producer and cover artist respectively. After "Slow Death," the band members went on to form and feature in acclaimed bands like Arcturus and Thorns.

In a moment of nostalgia and a desire for something more brutal, the corpse of Mortem was revived, and the unholy duo of Marius & Steinar rejoined forces. The long-awaited album, titled Ravnsvart, possesses raw brutality & spirit with fresh elements uniquely woven into the fabric of early Scandinavian black metal sounds, crafted into a masterpiece of sinister horror.

Joining the duo is Hellhammer from the legendary Mayhem on drums, plus Tor Stavenes of 1349/Svart Lotus on bass. This CD edition of Ravnsvart is presented in jewel-case packaging complete with a 12-page booklet.
