Rotten Luck, the new debut album from Maripool out on Smoking Room and Lost Wisdom.

Maripool is the moniker of Lisbon-born, London based songwriter Natacha Simões, a self-described “one girl band” who works largely solo, writing and playing on her guitar- driven, bedroom-pop arrangements..

The record is a nostalgic yet assured exploration of emotional extremities, a confrontation with inner demons rendered in soft distortion and sharp vulnerability.

Influences from artists such as Alex G, Feeble Little Horse, and Wednesday can be felt throughout, alongside echoes of Duster and Sonic Youth. Yet the album ultimately settles into a sound distinctly her own - balancing hazy, distorted textures with an unfiltered emotional core.
