Without Rubber Soul, there would be no psychedelia. From the font to the bands' out-grown moptops, change was in the air and on this long player.

The Beatles (still working at a phenomenal rate) began their career as classic album producers, beginning here and ending with Abbey Road. Rubber Soul, while heralding a very British psychedelia, wasn't as full-out weird as revolver or Sgt Pepper's... but what it did was infuse a melancholic seam into the band's songwriting, augmented with lush string arrangements and beautiful harmonising. What are we talking about? 'Norwegian Wood,' 'Michelle,' 'In My Life,' this was the point when The Beatles truly were untouchable.
