New York-based Japanese jazz and electronic polymath Takuya Nakamura presents his debut album Shape The Future, almost 35 years into his musical journey.
An expansive double album, the first LP documents a live performance recorded at fabric: a hybrid set combining DJing, live electronics, vocals and trumpet, plus studio collaborations with Shigeto, Currency Audio and Tim Reaper. The second LP gathers studio recordings of select album tracks.
Across his career, Nakamura has played Brazilian music, merengue, salsa and jazz, and worked with artists including David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Wu-Tang Clan, Arto Lindsay, Terry Riley, ASAP Rocky, Goldie and TV On The Radio. Steeped in jazz and jungle, Shape The Future reflects the full scope of that path.
