20 tracks of buzzing electronica and guitar based brilliance by the various bands associated with Next Phase : Normal Records. Alongside a few previously released recordings, there's a bunch of brand new and exclusive tracks by each of the featured artists. Girl One And The Grease Guns contribute the incendiary Telegraph Street from their Night Of The Living Electrical Appliances album, but have also unearthed a previously unreleased synth-pop gem entitled Sign On The Dotted Line, as well as an early mix of their cover of The Blanche Hudson Weekend's Noise And Fury. Sissy Space Echo and The Invisible Collaborators, fresh from their debut split 7" release with The Edible Eyes at the end of last year, have 2 exclusive tracks on this collection - the driving, pure electropop of At 7.44, and the melancholic piano based compilation closer, The World Still Turns. mattrobson's excellent Macroline album was released, digitally, in February 2020, and his rhythmically dense, skewed electronic compositions are well represented here, in the form of a track from the aforementioned album, plus an exclusive recording, Baraitser's Shame. It's not all synths, bleeps, Microbrutes and Korgs on this compilation, though. You've got twangy, Tornados inspired, surf guitar instrumentals courtesy of the masked and caped crusaders of the Aire Valley - The Razerbills. They are joined by fellow rip roaring guitar instrumentalists, The Science Of Words, whose 2 tracks on here, In A Space and Regeneration (Phase Two) both feature vocals from their lead guitar aficionado, Corinne. Add to this mixture the superb songwriting of Horton Parks, more deep fried electronic buzz from a.me and The Edible Eyes, plus 2 "very special guests", making their debuts on this label - Auto Queens and Deathtrippers - and you've got one hell of a fine collection of what Next Phase : Normal Records has to offer. The first 100 copies of Signals, Wires and Amplifiers are packaged in red DVD cases with 5 postcard inserts....strictly limited edition, and will not be available in this packaging once the first 100 have sold out !
