Six Million Dollar Man

Richard “Groove” Holmes began recording in the early 1960s, building a run of beautiful albums rooted in the soul-jazz groove that gave him his nickname. By the time he signed to Flying Dutchman in 1975, his style was already unmistakable.

Producer Bob Thiele teamed him with arranger Oliver Nelson, and the result was the stunning Six Million Dollar Man. Nelson wrote the title track for the hit TV show starring Lee Majors, and Holmes plays the theme with real flair.

The rest of the album is just as funky, with Holmes shining on Disc-O-Mite, Once Is Not Enough, Dumpy Mama and Double Scale. Out of print on vinyl since its original 1975 US release, this Ace Records edition is fully remastered and housed in a gatefold sleeve replicating the original.
