The Saskatchewan, Swift Current / Saskatoon-based singer-songwriter/musician put out one of our albums of the year in 2017. This one was recorded with Dave Cobb in RCA Studio A and includes Lloyd Green on pedal steel, Chris Powell on drums and spoons, Corb Lund on vocals and Micky Raphael on harmonica. As well as originals it includes covers of tracks by Billy Don Burns, Wilf Carter and some traditional cowboy songs. Just the album to put on to sooth your troubled soul when you’ve had too much moonshine and the joy has left your heart. This is proper cowboy music. A deep and earthy rich crooning country voice that could keep many a prairie-man happy over long rides on Old Paint (or feed the ears of truckers crossing the highway). Everything you want from a country & western album. Stripped down plucked guitars, crying lap steel, mournful harmonica and a poetic turn of phrase for fans of old-tyme style.
More great, timeless songs about all the great themes - death, murder, trains, love, unrequited love. It was recorded at RCA Studio A with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb. In addition to seven original songs written by Wall, the album also includes versions of Billy Don Burns’ Wild Dogs, Wilf Carter’s Calgary Round-Up and two cowboy traditionals, Night Herding Song and Tying Knots in the Devil’s Tail.
