Sound Of The Underground - 20th Anniversary Edition

Girls Aloud's Sound of the Underground was their debut single and was later featured on their debut album of the same title. The song, written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, and Niara Scarlett, was produced by Higgins and his team Xenomania.

After Girls Aloud formed on the ITV1 reality show Popstars: The Rivals, "Sound of the Underground" was released just 16 days later on 16 December 2002. The song was an instant commercial success, becoming the Christmas number one in the UK and spending four weeks at the top of the charts. It also reached number one in Ireland and achieved top forty positions in Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland.
