Stax Gold The Hits 1968 - 1974

Very few record labels have quite the reputation of Memphis' celebrated Stax. Formed in the late 50s by Jim Stewart and his sister Estelle Axton, the company enjoyed early success with Carla Thomas and the Mar-Keys and became a powerhouse with Booker T & the MGs, Sam & Dave and Otis Redding defining the Memphis sound. With the arrival of Al Bell in the mid-60s, the label became one of the biggest in the USA on the back of the massive success of Isaac Hayes and the Staple Singers. This has every Stax hit that matters including Soul Limbo, Mr Big Stuff etc.
