Observation Room return with their debut LP Superstructure, out via à La Carte Records on September 11. The Brooklyn synth duo of Marina F and Chloe Olson move beyond the hypnotic chill of their self-titled EP into something deeper, dreamier, and beautifully textured.
There are traces of krautrock’s locked grooves, late-'70s experimental synth, Tangerine Dream’s widescreen drift, and the cinematic pull of Depeche Mode and Book of Love. Dissonance, mechanical bloops, and field recordings give the record its grain, while vocal harmonies shaped over a year of live shows hold everything together.
The lyrics move from intimate paranoia to the political machinery behind it. Produced and mixed by Marina F in Brooklyn, and mastered by Sharon Aiza Engel at Punctum Stains. Pressed on olive-in-green and apple red 12" vinyl, with logos by Nat Cherry and photography by Tim O'Connell.
