Pama International return with their second soul album of 2019 - an all analogue soul busting affair. Not letting the dust to settle on the release of their 2019 debut soul album, The Altruistic Soul Sound of…, Pama Int’l return with the second instalment in their soul series & their second album of 2019. Succinctly titled Part Two, the album continues down the road of the band’s songwriter/founder - Sean Flowerdew’s love of northern, British & southern soul. It features the superb Jewels Vass on lead vocals plus musicians from; The Get Up, Kasabian, King Zepha and Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, and guest appearances from the world famous percussionist, Snowboy.
Part Two is proudly an all analogue recording affair. It was recorded & mixed in 5 days, through an ultra-rare Raindirk Symphony mixing desk, directly onto 1" 16 track tape machine & mixed down to 1/4” tape machine. The results speak for themselves. The energy, rawness, subtleties & emotion are defiant. The world needs soul music now more then ever… with Part Two Pama International are here to testify! The inspirations are apparent throughout. From the thunderbolt opener, an unapologetic ‘slap around the face’ version of I Can’t Get No (Satisfaction), to the glorious & unexpected Seems Like We’ve Gone to Far close. Al Green, Staple Singers, Aretha & Carolyn Franklin, Betty Swann, James Carr, Percy Sledge, Bobbie Gentry, Otis Redding & Dusty Springfield have all played their part, but throughout the album Pama Intl’s own personality & sound shines. With tales of love, loss, abandonment, resilience & unadulterated joy the songs live and breathe soul. Joining Satisfaction in the carefully chosen trio of cover versions included on this set are a relentless northern soul take on Marcia Griffith’s Feel Like Jumping & Carole King’s sublime It’s Too Late. Those of you who’ve heard the band’s Love & Austerity album, will spot two familiar songs; I Cried Til I Stopped & Skies Are Blue. The previous versions were stripped down affairs, but here they’re now given the full band work out with horizon lifting results.
