The Curious Case of Existence

JIM – aka Jim Baron of Crazy P – returns via Vicious Charm with The Curious Case Of Existence. Lead single Keeps Me Warm sets the tone: raw, tender and full of love and longing, built from looped guitar, electric swirls and tapped-out rhythms.

His 2023 debut Love Makes Magic grew from studio experiments during the pandemic and became Vicious Charm’s first LP. Several tracks here were overseen by veteran producer and musician Eddie Stevens of Moloko, Sia and Zero 7, who contributed ideas, keyboards and guidance.

Completed in the shadow of the death of Crazy P vocalist Danielle Moore in August 2024, the album closes with Windmills, a remembrance of a road trip through Palm Springs and Las Vegas. Baron recalls hearing Mary Lattimore’s version of Wait For Now by Cinematic Orchestra beneath a red sky and endless windmills.
