On The Lying Swans, Gloria de Oliveira turns grief into something strangely luminous. Her third full-length plays like Gothic fiction in motion, sparked by the image of a woman fleeing a haunted house and shaped by a visual world where enchantment and danger sit side by side.
Produced by Randall Dunn, known for work with Anna von Hausswolff, Sunn O))) and Marissa Nadler, and recorded between Iceland, New York and Berlin, the album drifts through an oneiric space where shimmering beauty meets real emotional weight.
The first single, Fading Faces, pairs airy synths with thunderous drums and glam-rock guitar. “I numb my hurt one last time,” sings de Oliveira, in a farewell to darker days. It was the first song she wrote for the album, and the first she recorded with Dunn in Iceland.
