There's Never Been (No One Like You)

Kenton Nix was one of West End's secret weapons, and his proto-house debut There's Never Been (No One Like You) remains one of disco's most emotionally enriching records. Heartfelt lyrics, an uplifting rhythm, an infectious hook and an irresistible bassline give it a timeless appeal.

A favourite of DāM FunK and a Paradise Garage classic, this smoothed-out soulful disco jam was produced by Kenton Nix, whose credits include Taana Gardner, Gwen McCrae and The Treacherous Three. It features the exceptional vocals of underground soul singer Bobby Youngblood.

The long dance version and the shorter mix capture the warmth and pure feeling of the original 1980 recording. West End's influence reaches beyond disco into hip-hop and house, drawing on a roster rooted in soul, R&B, gospel and funk.
