This World Is No Place for Children

Since the mid-1990s, Matt Elliott has been exploring sonic textures and pushing at the boundaries of sound. After playing with Movietone and Flying Saucer Attack, he struck out on his own as The Third Eye Foundation, releasing Semtex in 1996, followed by Ghost, You Guys Kill Me and Little Lost Soul on Domino.

After settling in Nancy in the early 2000s, Elliott began releasing albums under his own name with Ici D'Ailleurs. Drinking Songs (2005), the first in a trilogy, was a brooding dark-folk record that brought him a growing international audience.

This World Is No Place for Children, his tenth studio album, opens with a deceptively jaunty waltz before venturing into boundless greed and our collective failure towards the young. Still, a glimmer of light remains. After twenty years with Ici D'Ailleurs, this is Elliott's first album for Talitres.
