sixties obsessives' third and finest album - eleven tracks of bubblegum pop, nuggets garage and mini-rock operas about synaethesia, coca-cola and girls. for farren hayman and the voluntary butler scheme. formed in cardiff in 2000, the loves released their debut single on radio one dj huw stephens' boobytrap singles club in 2001, followed by several singles and an lp on the track and field label. they recorded four peel sessions in two years (one broadcast live from peel acres on valentine's day 2002) and played with the likes of the yeah yeah yeahs, the rapture, bearsuit and apples in stereo. since beginning the loves have had approximately 29 members come and go, making band leader simon love the welsh mans of: the monkees, the velvet underground, nuggets, bubblegum pop. the loves' third lp (cleverly titled) "three" sees the group embrace their bubblegum pop roots with more of the multi-coloured 60s influenced pop music that's earned them four peel sessions, two bbc 6music sessions, 29 band members and a sunday times album of the week. the main influences this time are the who, boyce & hart, the flaming lips & primal scream. it was recorded over 18 months at 3 locations - east london, brooklyn & cardiff & features guest performers such as dark e smith.
