Time Is On Your Side

Chicago alt-jazz polymath Sen Morimoto returns with their fourth LP, Time Is On Your Side, via Sooper Records. A Japanese-American multi-disciplinary artist and producer moving between Chicago and Japan, Morimoto blends jazz, alt-pop and rap with a restless, shape-shifting touch.

Across nine tracks, Time Is On Your Side slips from rootsy folk to odd-meter funk and ambient jazz. The arrangements feel lush and precise, while cathartic songwriting and intimate vocals take the foreground in a clear shift of approach.

Lyrically, the record meets doom scroll anxiety with patience and calm. Sen Morimoto is joined by Chicago collaborators Kaina Castillo, Ryan Person, Elijah Bradford and Brok Mende, with strings and layered harmonies adding a nostalgic, inventive pull.
