Twerp Verse

Twerp Verse is the latest collection of songs from Speedy Ortiz, with "Necessary brattiness" as its motto. Released via Carpark Records, this indie rock album is a follow-up to the acclaimed Foil Deer from 2015.

The album is inspired by a wave of voices speaking out against the hurt they have endured from society's margins. Songwriter, guitarist, and singer Sadie Dupuis walks the line between being "outrageous and practical" in order to be heard.

Speedy Ortiz's third album features Philadelphian Andy Molholt on second guitar, adding urgent and taut textures like Linn drums and whirled guitar processing to their off-kilter hooks. The band's influences range from Squeeze to Hop Along, Prince to Paramore, and Brenda Lee, creating a chaotic yet cohesive sound.

Despite themes of alienation and political weariness in Dupuis's lyrics, the music provides a charged, optimistic energy. The LP+ Deluxe version is pressed on pink vinyl with rainbow splatter, while the LP Standard version comes on black vinyl. The CD features artwork by Sadie Dupuis, and the tape includes a download.
