paxton is best known for the novelty smashes 'alley-oop' and 'monster mash' but he was already a veteran of the charts. the multi-talented singer songwriter producer set up in hollywood in 1960 and over the next 5 years or so generated a catalogue that straddled doowop, surf, hot rod, girl groups, jazz, garage rock, country and gospel. this is a document of a never to be repeated time in music history and one of rock and roll's most colourful characters. it features the pledges, skip and flip, the rod marshall combo, the innocents, sonny day, david and lee, gary paxton etc.
