This 50 song set from Not Now highlights recordings from her early 1955 hits through to around 1960 and has her in fine voice. Many of the hits are included and as a best of compilation it lives up to the title. Jerry Wexler once called her "the greatest of all modern blues singers," and she recorded a number of enduring hits, including "At Last," "Tell Mama," "I'd Rather Go Blind," and "All I Could Do Was Cry." Liner notes are by regular Michael Heatley and the sound quality is up to the good standard expected from Not Now Music. Running time for the set is over 2 hours and there are informative liner notes and colourful pictures of the lady too. Excellent value and another valued addition to the catalogue.
