alex zhang hungtai aka dirty beaches started off as a one-man band in 2005 and has since grown to become a genuine underground phenomenon. a trans-pacific nomad and genre hopping soundsmith, his latest release 'water park' is a film score written for evan prosofsky's same-titled film and explores the neutral element of sound in a massive indoor water park located in west edmonton mall in the province of alberta. the instrumentation of oscillators, heavily reverberated strings, mellotron and experimental electric guitar sets the mood for this bizarre plastic tropical paradise set within a shopping mall.
