X3 by Amina Hocine draws progressively, subtly and inexorably on the complementary nature of sound materials. Patiently blending pure sine waves, field recordings and sounds produced with a “foghorn organ” developed by Hocine, X3 invites both introspection and contemplation.
Inspired by a symbol of the Danish mystic Martinus Thomsen representing the evolution of a being in the physical world, Hocine invites us on a long journey, balancing between the static and the changing, the almost imperceptible and the grandiose.
In Until the Fish Eyes Shine, Espen Sommer Eide takes a panoramic, retrospective look at his musical work, often produced under the pseudonym Phonophani, revisiting the sounds of his early years against the late-1990s ambient techno scene in Tromsø.
