Yesterday's Man

Ags Connolly has always been a songwriter first and foremost. Now known as a standard-bearer for traditional country music in the UK and Europe, it was the simple directness of the songs, rather than the style and imagery, that first brought him to the genre.

Ags has established himself as a formidable writer on his four previous studio albums, as well as a stylist and interpreter on his 2024 tribute to Texas troubadour James Hand. On the new album Yesterday's Man, the Oxfordshire native decided to push things further, focusing on the songs more closely than before.

"For this album I spent longer than ever on the songs," Ags says. "If you want to be recognised as a songwriter, you have to ensure what you're delivering is as strong as it can possibly be."
