Collection: Cog Sinister
Cog Sinister is a record company founded in 1987 by Mark E. Smith, the frontman of The Fall. Although it dissolved on May 5, 1992, the label has left a lasting impact on the music industry.
The label first appeared in 1987 when The Fall used it as an imprint for their self-released anthology album "Palace Of Swords Reversed". In 1990, Cog Sinister returned as a vanity label for The Fall's releases when they signed to Fontana. Even after moving to Permanent Records, they continued to use the Cog Sinister brand.
While The Fall stopped using Cog Sinister on their new material after leaving Permanent in 1995, the imprint found new life in 1997 as part of the Voiceprint label group. Since then, Cog Sinister has been dedicated to reissuing The Fall's back-catalogue and preserving their musical legacy.
