Sunn O))) is an American doom/drone metal band formed in 1996. The name is pronounced "Sun" and was inspired by the band's amplifier brand of choice. Founding members Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson have been a constant presence in every concert and release under the SUNN O))) moniker. Throughout their career, they have collaborated with notable guests such as Attila Csihar, Julian Cope, Oren Ambarchi, Merzbow, and Tos Nieuwenhuizen.
