Collection: Precious Recordings of London

Precious Recordings of London is a Putney-based independent label run by former horse-racing journalist Nick Godfrey, with a catalogue that gives BBC sessions and related recordings a second life. The thread running through its releases is clear: John Peel, Janice Long, Liz Kershaw and Mary Anne Hobbs sessions sit alongside live and studio work by groups including Alternative TV, Age of Chance, Blueboy, Prolapse and BMX Bandits.

That focus makes the label a useful home for music that first appeared in broadcast form and might otherwise stay half-remembered. The roster sample also suggests a taste for indie pop, post-punk and underground guitar music across several decades, from 14 Iced Bears and The Motorcycle Boy to Jetstream Pony.
